Friday 24th May - School in use as Polling Station, School Closed
Monday 3rd June - Bank Holiday, School Closed
Non-Uniform Day: A Non-Uniform Day will be held on Friday 12th April in support of the Irish Kidney Association. We are very happy to support Nikki Clifford and her husband Colm (of Killorglin Pantomime Fame!) in holding this day. Colm received a kidney transplant over 2 years ago and with his wife Nikki, they are trying to raise awareness of organ donation and to spread the message that organ donation works. We are asking each child to contribute €1 or €2 to the collection on the day, where possible.
Easter Holidays: The school will close for the Easter holidays on Friday 12th April at 12 noon. The school will re-open on Monday 29th April. Have a lovely break!
Time to Read: The Time to Read programme is now complete for this year. Our thanks to Anne (Fexco) and Eileen (Business in the Community Ireland) for their help and support in the co-ordination of this programme. Thanks also to the members of our own school community who volunteered of their time to ensure that no child missed out. We greatly appreciate it.
Junior Achievement Ireland: Just as one partnership with Fexco ends, another begins. We have partnered with Fexco for the Junior Achievement Ireland programme. This programme will be delivered to the children from Senior Infants to 6th Class. Currently we have Jean who is working with the children in 3rd and 4th Class. Jean is working on the theme "Our City" with the children. Our City considers economic development, local businesses, and career opportunities. This programme runs for 40 minutes weekly for five weeks. A city is a place where a lot of people live, work, play, and go to school. So Junior Achievement classroom volunteers help students build a city! Students construct paper buildings, map out a city, write newspaper articles, plan their own restaurants, and examine why banks are important. we look forward to developing this programme further throughout the school. Aldi Play Rugby Stickers: Our sincere thanks to you all for collecting the Aldi stickers on our behalf. We have been inundated with stickers and are delighted to tell you all that we collected in excess of 4000 stickers filling 14 posters!! Fingers crossed for positive news from the draw!
Lee Strand Labels: Our thanks to those who are collecting the Lee Strand labels. We were unsuccessful in the draws this year but not to worry. We are now focusing our attention on collecting the labels for in return for homework journals. 10 Mighty Mikey Milky labels are required for each homework journal. We would appreciate it if you would continue to collect the labels on our behalf please.
Fun Run: Our Fun Run is complete! Thank you so much to everyone for making it a huge success. We were absolutely blessed with the weather! A huge thank you to all the individuals and families who came along to support us by getting involved in the 1km, 5km and 10km. It was wonderful to see the fantastic turnout! Special thanks to our Parents' Association for the work they put in to making the fun run a success! Thanks also to everyone who helped out in any way - the volunteers, stewards, sponsors, DJ Chris, photographers, those who made and brought food and helped at the marquee, those who drove sweeper vehicles, Mickey Mouse and Killorglin Fire & Rescue for making an appearance as well as those involved in the set up and tidy up. We really appreciate everyone's support!
Football: Congratulations to our girl Mini 7's team who won out the Mid Kerry part of the competition. They now progress on to the Kerry competition which takes place on Wednesday at 10:30am in John Mitchels. The best of luck to all involved! Our boys Mini 7's team were beaten by Scoil Mhuire in the Final of the Mid Kerry competition, well done to the boys. This week our boys skills team of Eoin, Ben and Dylan will compete in the Mid Kerry Skills competition, we wish them the very best of luck! The Mid Kerry 4/5 Teacher Schools Competition is also underway we played our first match against Castlemaine last week losing by the minimum. Next up we have a game against Glenbeigh on Tuesday 30th April. Best of luck to all for the remainder of the competition.
