Mrs. Fleming will be taking Maternity Leave in September. Interviews will be held next week to determine her replacement. Mrs. Doyle will continue to Job-Share for the 2019/2020 school year. Interviews will also take place for her Job-Share partner next week. Finally, the school has been granted a second full-time SNA, this position will be interviewed for, along with the others, next week.

End-of-Year Service:

Our End-of-Year Service will take place on Friday 21st June at 1pm. You are welcome to come along and celebrate the end of the school year with us. Junior & Senior Infants can be collected from their class room once the service has ended as it will be after their usual collection time. If you need to take your child, please do so before the service begins so as not to interrupt proceedings.

GAA 5 Star Centre:

This year the GAA launched the "GAA 5 Star Centre" programme to which we registered at the beginning of the school year. We received notification last week that we will be presented with our "GAA 5 Star Centre" Flag on Wednesday next at the Kerry GAA Centre of Excellence in Currans. Recognition as a “GAA 5 Star Centre” is awarded to Primary Schools that undertake to deliver a programme of Gaelic Games activity that is age-appropriate and meets the developmental needs of children within the school. Our thanks to Eddie for his help in undertaking training and games with the children. Without his help and the co-operation of the class teachers it would not be possible.

Lee Strand:

The closing date for the Lee Strand labels, for this year, was at the end of May. We dropped off 900 milk labels meaning we will receive 90 homework journals in August in time for the new school year. This will save the school approx. €405. We would ask you please to continue to collect the Lee Strand milk labels for us over the summer to enable us to enter the €500 prize draws and collect for homework journals again next year.

Change of Email:

A reminder that we have changed our email address to glounaguillaghns@gmail.com. Please update your records and use this address going forward.

Reports:

The School Report Cards will issue on Tuesday 18th June.

Athletics:

Congratulations to the children who qualified from the Mid Kerry School Sports to represent the school and district at the County School Sports held in An Ríocht, Castleisland on Wednesday.

Book Fair:

Our recent Book Fair was a great success. We earned over €1500 in rewards for the school as a result. We will be purchasing class novels and library books for the classrooms with our rewards. Thank you all for your support!

Lost & Found:

There are lots of jumpers and jackets left behind here at the school. Please pop in and have a look in the Stage Room before the end of the school year if you are missing any.

I.T. Tralee Visit:

6th Class were very kindly invited to visit the I.T. Tralee last week by the Hotel, Culinary Arts & Tourism Department. They visited the library, lecture theatres and demonstration kitchens while also getting a glimpse of the new state of the art sports facilities. The children were also treated to a very special lunch, that they were responsible for making themselves, under the guidance of the college lecturers, in state of the art kitchens! One group made muffins while the other group worked on pizzas and salad for all! They also got the chance to make their own lemonade! It was an amazing experience and opportunity. Our thanks to T.J and his colleagues for inviting us along. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day!

Football:

Our football year came to an end on Sunday 26th May when we played Castledrum in the Mid Kerry 4/5 Teacher Schools "B" Final. After a superb game we emerged victorious. Our thanks to Eddie, as always, for the dedication and commitment he has given to football this school year.

As another school year comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours all of the very best for the summer. May it be a safe, healthy and happy one and whatever your holiday plans are, may they be most enjoyable!

We would like to wish those who are leaving us all the very best in future endeavours. We hope that you will look back fondly on your time here in Glounaguillagh National School.

Looking forward to welcoming you back on Monday 2nd September to begin another school year full of educational activities and learning opportunities.

Happy Holidays!

Sinéad Pigott

Principal
