Update: 25th June 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We have reached the finish line! I can almost hear the sighs of relief!

It has been a strange and difficult few months for us all. We have all had to adjust and adapt to new ways of living our daily lives. For the whole school community this has been a challenging time as we all have been getting to grips with the ‘new normal’. Adjusting to remote learning has proven to be both a learning curve for the teachers, parents and pupils alike and a sincere thank you to you all for stepping up and embracing this new way of teaching and learning against the many challenges of access to I.T. resources, Wi-Fi, etc.

As we reach the end of the 2019-2020 school year, I would like to thank the pupils for all their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment this year. Their adaptability to the new learning conditions imposed on them is to be commended. I also wish to acknowledge the cooperation and goodwill of the entire parent body as they helped their children to learn in these strange times. A special word of thanks to our staff for their hard work and dedication in what has been a very challenging time for all concerned.

I would especially like to wish our 6th Class pupils the very best of luck as they depart Glounaguillagh National School and embark on a new chapter in their lives in Secondary School. I hope that you have many happy and fond memories of your time with us here in Glounaguillagh N.S. and I am so sorry that it came to such an abrupt ending for you on 12th March when we closed. It was a pleasure teaching you all and we will greatly miss you all. Once we have a date/plan regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation and the Sacrament of the Eucharist we will inform you of this.

I received some fantastic news this week when we received notification from the Department of Education that the appeal submitted to the Primary Staffing Appeals Board has been successful. We have been provisionally sanctioned a new teaching post for the new school year. We are absolutely delighted with this news. It will make a huge difference to the school and our classes.

As another school year comes to a close, I would sincerely like to thank you all for your hard work, commitment and dedication in supporting our school and allowing us to thrive while simultaneously ensuring a bright future for Glounaguillagh N.S. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your help, co-operation and support throughout the year and hopefully next year we will together continue to go from strength to strength. ‘Ní neart go gur le chéile’.

Finally, we wish everyone a happy, safe and enjoyable summer. We look forward to seeing you for the new school year on Tuesday 1st September. (subject to H.S.E. guidelines)

Thank you for your continued support.

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Ms. Sinéad Pigott

Principal
