Amber Flag
What is the Amber Flag?
In order to promote positive mental health and wellbeing at Glounaguillagh N.S, we have decided to take part in the Amber Flag initiative. Successful completion of the Amber Flag initiative involves the whole school community coming together in order to create a safe, positive and healthy attitude towards our general physical and mental health and well-being.
We wish to rally the wider school community to endorse positive mental health and wellbeing. If any parents are willing to share their skills and talents with us in terms of music, meditation, mindfulness, fitness, healthy eating, art, etc. please get in touch. We acknowledge and appreciate the knowledge and skills you all have which may help us create a positive mental health and wellbeing environment.
We will be documenting all of our hard work on this page, where you will see all of the wonderful wellbeing work that is being completed in our school.

Wellbeing Week - Timetable
We had a fantastic Wellbeing Week filled with fun, reflection, and positivity! Here's a look at what we got up to each day:
🧘♀️ Mindful Monday
The Wellbeing Committee handed out mindfulness colouring sheets to every class. Ms. Quirke visited each classroom and guided the children through calming meditation sessions.
🙏 Thankful Tuesday
A Gratitude Jar was placed near our Amber Flag notice board, where pupils and staff could write down what they were thankful for. Everyone was also encouraged to carry out a random act of kindness at school or at home.
💙 Wellbeing Wednesday
All teachers gave a break from regular homework and instead, the committee shared wellbeing activity ideas to try at home. We also launched our "Design a Poster" competition to promote positive mental health.
🎉 Terrific Thursday
Pupils and staff wore their pyjamas to school and helped raise an amazing €270 for Pieta House. A big thank you to everyone who contributed!
🎶 Feel Good Friday
We wrapped up the week with a fun yard disco for all students. Ms. O'Shea also led relaxing yoga sessions with every class to end the week on a high note.
