November Newsletter

Dear Parent(s),

Dates for your Diary:

Tuesday 8th December - School closed

Friday 11th December - Christmas Jumper Day

Tuesday 22nd December - School will close for the Christmas Holidays at 12 noon

Wednesday 6th January - School re-opens

Staffing:

Our 6th mainstream teacher post was fully sanctioned at the end of October. Ms. Deirdre Quirke was appointed to the role from the Supplementary Panel. We are delighted to welcome Deirdre as a permanent member of staff.

Enrolment:

Enrolment for the 2021/2022 school year is now open. Enrolment Application Forms are available to download on our school website and can also be collected by a sibling from the school office. Email us on glounaguillaghns@gmail.com with any queries.

Time to Read:

The Time to Read programme will be continuing this year, albeit in a virtual fashion. We are delighted that our 2nd class children will get to experience this wonderful programme even in this strangest of years. The recruitment of volunteers is currently taking place and training will be held before Christmas with the programme itself due to get underway in January. Our sincere thanks to Fexco and Business in the Community Ireland for committing to running this programme in the current climate.

Book Bills:

Our sincere thanks to all families for supporting the move to cashless payments. The system is working well to date with over 90% of outstanding dues collected. We would ask the remaining families to please complete the payment as soon as possible to enable us to pay our supplier.

Christmas Jumper Day:

Christmas Jumper Day will take place on Friday 11th December. A donation of €1 or €2 is recommended on the day. This year, all monies collected will be donated to the Palliative services of University Hospital Kerry. Palliative Care do absolutely wonderful work for families throughout the county on a daily basis. I would like to repay the kindness shown to my family recently when my uncle Liam passed away by raising some money for this vital local service.

Kind Regards,

Sinéad Pigott

Principal
