ABOUT GLOUNAGUILLAGH NATIONAL SCHOOL

Glounaguillagh National School has been providing education to the local community since 1841, and has proudly operated from its current school building since 1887.

As a Catholic school under the patronage of the Bishop of Kerry, we are committed to fostering a caring, inclusive and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and personally.

Glounaguillagh N.S. is a co-educational primary school catering for pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.

Our dedicated staff includes six mainstream classroom teachers, two full-time special education teachers and three additional needs assistants who work together to support the learning and wellbeing of all pupils.

The curriculum is delivered across six key areas:

  • Language – Gaeilge and English

  • Mathematics

  • Social, Environmental and Scientific Education – History, Geography and Science

  • Arts Education – Visual Arts, Music and Drama

  • Physical Education

  • Social, Personal and Health Education

At Glounaguillagh N.S., we strive to provide a positive and engaging learning environment where children are encouraged to develop confidence, creativity, respect, and independence.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated and supportive Board of Management and an active Parents’ Association, both of which play an important role in the life of our school community.
