October Update - eNewsletter

Dear Parents,

Dates for your Diary:

Presidential Election - School Closed for Voting (Friday 26th October)

Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Thursday 7th March at 11am in St. James' Church, Killorglin.

First Holy Communion will take place on Saturday 4th May at 10:30am in St. James' Church, Killorglin.

Parent Teacher meetings on Thursday 15th November

School Closure:

The school will be closed on Friday 26th October as it is in use as a Polling Station for the Presidential Election.

Halloween Costume Day:

After the success of last year, the Halloween Dress Up Day will take place again this year. All monies collected will be donated to the Killorglin Outreach of Recovery Haven Kerry Cancer Support House. The Dress Up Day will be held on Thursday 25th October. A donation of €1 or €2 is recommended on the day.

Clothes Collection:

A clothes collection will be held on Tuesday November 20th as a fundraiser for the school. A great chance to have a clear out prior to Christmas!! We would appreciate at least one bag from each household if at all possible to get the most out of the fundraiser. Accepted Items: any previously loved clean clothes, linen, curtains, belts, handbags, sharves, shoes (pairs - tied together). No dirty or wet clothes, duvets, pillows, cushions or blankets. The collection is arranged from the school for Tuesday November 20th 2018. Drop off you bin bags anytime after Midterm in time for our collection day.

Junk Art:

We would like to keep a supply of frequently used arts materials in the school to use when required. If you could send in (clean) jam jars, cereal boxes, shoeboxes, kitchen towel rolls every so often it would be a great help.

School Personal Accident Insurance:

All pupils are insured under the 24 hour Pupil Personal Accident Insurance scheme. Please see attached summary of cover.

Parking:

A thank you to the majority of parents for your consideration and help in following the directions given and making the school drop off and collection times safer and more free flowing. There are still some parents who continue to disregard the safety of others. We urge all parents to follow the rules of the road and park responsibly. Parking your car on the junction and/or double yellow lines is causing huge problems for other parents and road users.

Mighty Mikey Milk:

Lee Strand Cash 4 Schools €500 Draw is Back this school year. Draws will take place in October, November, December and January. Any household who uses Lee Strand milk would you mind collecting and sending in the Mighty Mikey Milk mascots printed on Lee Strand 1 Litre and pint cartons or 2 Litre plastic bottles.

Kind Regards,

Sinéad Pigott

Principal
