January e-Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Dates for your Diary:

  • February Mid-Term: Thursday 24th & Friday 25th February (school closed)

  • First Holy Communion: Saturday 14th May

  • Confirmation: Tuesday 22nd March

Calendar:

I am attaching an updated school calendar to include the new Public Holiday on March 18th, as announced earlier in the week

Welcome:

We extend a special welcome to the three new pupils who have joined us this month. Welcome Samira (Senior Infants), Abigail (4th Class) and Jonah (1st Class). We hope you all enjoy your time with us here at Glounaguillagh N.S..

We welcome Ms. Ciara Dynan who will be joining us on a part-time basis later in the month to complete our allocation of Covid Learning and Supports Scheme (CLASS) hours that were granted to each school to use to mitigate the impact to students’ learning and wellbeing of Covid-19 closures and restrictions.

Congratulations:

Congratulations to Ms. Deirdre Quirke and her new husband, Cathal, on their recent marriage. May you have a long and happy life together and may all your dreams come true!

Enrolment:

Today is the final day for accepting enrolment applications for September 2022. A limited number of places are available in our Junior Infant class as well as some of our other classes. If you would like any further information, please contact the school office on 066-9769402 or email us at glounaguillaghns@gmail.com

Next Year:

It’s the time of the year when our attention begins to turn to September and putting plans in place for the new school year. To that end, if you know your child will not be returning to our school after the summer (other than 6th class pupils), please let the office know as soon as possible.

Parent/Teacher Meetings:

This year, our Parent/Teacher meetings are again being carried out by phone. Phone calls will be scheduled over the next number of weeks. Class teachers will be in contact with you to confirm the arrangements.

Christmas Jumper Day:

Our annual Christmas Jumper Day raised a wonderful €350 for Killorglin & District Mental Health Association. Thank you all for your support – it is wonderful to be in a position to help with the invaluable work that they do.

Have a lovely weekend,

Sinéad Pigott

Principal
