Dates for your Diary:

  • Wednesday 22nd November – ISK Show at 11am (4th – 6th Class)

  • Thursday 23rd November – Parent-Teacher Meetings from 2:30pm

  • Monday 4th December – Staff Training Day (School Closed)

  • Friday 22nd December - School will close for the Christmas Holidays at 12 noon

  • Monday 8th January - School re-opens

 

Primary Maths Curriculum:

The Department of Education is in the process of introducing a new Primary Maths Curriculum. As part of this, we have received notice that our whole-school staff training day will take place on Monday 4th December in Tralee. The school will be closed on that day.

 

Enrolment:

Enrolment is now open for children starting school in September 2024. Enrolment Application Forms are available to download from our school website and can also be collected from the school office. Email us on glounaguillaghns@gmail.com with any queries.

 

Outstanding Fees:

We have a small number of outstanding dues. We would ask the remaining families to please complete the payment as soon as possible.

 

Parent-Teacher Meetings:

In-person parent-teacher meetings will take place on Thursday 23rd November from 2:30pm at the school. Your child’s Class Teacher may have made contact with you separately in regards to their own schedule. If not, you are welcome to queue for your child’s teacher from 2:20pm. Please do not come before that time as classes are still in session.

 

Astellas Art Competition:

Congratulations to Ellie O'Grady, 2nd Class, on her success in the recent Astellas Art Calendar Competition. Ellie won her category and her picture will feature for the month of November in the calendar. Ellie will be presented with her prize at the prize-giving ceremony in Astellas next week. Well done Ellie!

 

Clothing Collection:

Our Parents' Association are holding a clothing collection over the coming weeks. Bags can be dropped to the dedicated container at Hoare's until November 30th. It's a great chance to have a clear out prior to Christmas! Accepted Items: any previously loved clean clothes, bed linen, curtains, towels, handbags, hat, scarves, shoes (paired - tied together) and soft toys. Not accepted: dirty or wet clothes, duvets, pillows, toys, underwear or socks. See attached poster.

 

TeamHope Shoebox Appeal:

Carmel would like to thank all our families who participated in this year's TeamHope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Well done everyone! Thank you to Carmel for organising the collection.

 

Social Media Webinar:

Tralee Education Support Centre have organised a webinar that will be of interest to parents: Social Media and Children. It will be held on Tuesday 5th December from 7pm to 8pm on Zoom.

 

Confirmation Webinar:

The Diocese of Kerry has organised a webinar for Confirmation parents and guardians on Wednesday 22nd November at 7:30pm.

Building Update:

The builders have moved in and our extension project is finally underway. The blockwork has been installed up to damp proof course level and we're nearly ready for the floor to be poured.
