Standardised Tests: Testing season is upon us! The Standardised Tests we use, Drumcondras, have been re-normed and updated recently. This year, the children will take the New Drumcondra Primary Tests (1st - 6th Class). As a result of the re-norming it is expected that differences may be seen between your child’s results on the new tests and their results on older tests. For more information, please see attached information note from the Educational Research Centre (ERC).

School Tours: Junior & Senior Infants will travel to Active Kingdom, Tralee on Monday 17th June. 1st & 2nd Class will travel to the Wetlands, Tralee on Tuesday 4th June. 3rd - 6th Classes will travel to Let's Go! Camp in Mallow on Thursday 20th June. Further details will be distributed from the class teachers.

Visit to I.T. Tralee: The 6th Class children have been very kindly invited to visit I.T. Tralee on Wednesday 5th June by the Hotel, Culinary Arts & Tourism Department. On their visit, they will see the library, lecture theatres, and demonstration kitchens and enjoy the ambience of a third level campus. The children will also be treated to a very special lunch, that they will be responsible for making themselves, under the guidance of the college lecturers, in state of the art kitchens! The Board of Management will kindly defray the cost of the bus which will depart the school at 9:15am. We anticipate that the children will return in time for the 2:30pm collection.

Set-Dancing: We are delighted to have Adrian Moriarty of Adrian Moriarty School of Dancing with us on a Thursday morning for Set Dancing. All classes are enjoying learning the art of set dancing as well as some brush dancing. We are looking forward to working with Adrian over the next few weeks. Our thanks to the Parents' Association for contributing some of the money they have raised this school year towards the set dancing. The fund-raising the Parents' Association do is vital to allow us to do activities throughout the year.

Athletics: The annual Mid-Kerry School Sports Day will go ahead tomorrow, Friday 17th May, in Beaufort GAA Club. Heats were run off here at school over the last week and we wish all those who qualified the very best of luck!

Book Fair: The Scholastic Book Fair has arrived. The classes had a chance to browse the selection yesterday and again today. The Book Fair will be open on Thursday - Tuesday from 1:30pm until 2:40pm if you would like to pop in. Every book sold at our Fair helps to earn free books for our school. All Welcome!

Lost & Found: If you are calling to the school over the next few weeks, particularly now while the Book Fair is on-going, take a look at the "Lost & Found" on display.

Lee Strand Labels: Our thanks to those who are collecting the Lee Strand labels. 10 Mighty Mikey labels are required for each homework journal. We would appreciate it if you would send in any milk tokens you have before the closing date at the end of May.

Thanks: Ms. Aisling Foley and Mr. Aaron Heffernan have been with us for the last number of weeks on Teaching Placement. We would like to thank them both for all they have done for the children and we wish them both continued success in their studies and beyond!

Communion: Congratulations to the boys & girls in 2nd Class who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion recently. Our thanks too to the children who gave of their time on Saturday morning to form part of our choir. Thanks also to the Parents' Association and their helpers for looking after the "after party".

Open Day: We will have an "Open Day" for the Incoming Junior Infants on Friday 7th June at 11am. The children get the chance to spend an hour in their room, meet the teachers, have a look around the school and chat with all their new friends before they embark on the "Big School" journey in September.

Football: There has been lots happening on the football front! Our girl Mini 7's team represented themselves and the school very well at the Kerry competition competition. Our boys skills team of Eoin, Ben and Dylan competed in the Mid Kerry Skills competition. Our girls skills team of Lara, Niamh and Megan will compete in the Mid Kerry Skills competition on Tuesday coming, we wish the girls the best of luck! The Mid Kerry 4/5 Teacher Schools Competition is progressing, we have now played all our games losing out to Castlemaine & Glenbeigh while defeating Castledrum and Kilgobnet. Our thanks to Eddie for all his help and assistance, as always. Congratulations to Niamh Moriarty & Eoin O'Connell who represented the school at the Mid-Kerry Primary Game trials last week with both progressing to the next stage being held this evening in Caherslee, Tralee, best of luck to you both! 3rd and 4th Class travelled to the Kerry GAA Centre of Excellence in Currans on Friday last for a Go Games Blitz organised by the Kerry Coaching & Games Development Committee. They really enjoyed the day! Out thanks to Donal Daly, PJ Reidy, Jack Morgan & all involved for the invitation.
