Book Fair:

We are thrilled to share that our school is hosting the Scholastic Book Fair. The books will arrive on Wednesday 19th March, leaving us the following week. It is great for the children to explore various authors and genres while giving an opportunity to promote reading throughout the school. More details will be sent nearer the time. A portion of the proceeds will go towards new books and resources for our school library, ensuring that we continue to nurture our students’ love for reading.

Sacraments:

Best wishes to all our lovely pupils making their First Confession tomorrow evening.

Time to Count:

We are continuing with the Time to Count programme this year. Time to Count got underway in 3rd Class recently. This is the 10th year of our partnership with Business in the Community Ireland and Fexco. We are very grateful for their continued support. Volunteers from Fexco call to the school once a week to play maths games with the children. A sincere thank you to all involved for your commitment to this programme.

FAI Primary 5s

Our girls' soccer team represented the school at the FAI Primary 5s soccer tournament in Killarney recently. The girls finished the tournament with 3 draws and a loss, narrowly missing out on a place in the qualifiers. All involved had a great day out! Thanks to Wayne and Ms. McCarthy for accompanying the girls. Two boys' teams will play in their tournament on Friday. We wish all involved the best of luck.

Tráth na gCeist

Well done to Stephen O’Reilly (6th Class), Charlie Enright (5th Class), Eoghan O’Malley (5th Class) and Dara O’Brien (4th Class) who represented the school in the inaugural Allianz Cumann na mBunscol sports quiz on Monday evening last in the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee. A great evening was had by all. Thanks to Ms. O’Shea for accompanying the children and to the parents for getting the children to the venue.

Wellbeing Week

This week is wellbeing week at school. Ms. Quirke and her committee are working with the whole school community towards our Amber Flag. Wellbeing week helps to promote positive wellbeing and mental health at our school. As part of our Amber Flag initiative, the children are partaking in many different fun activities throughout the week. One such activity is a whole-school Pyjama Day on Thursday as a fundraiser for Pieta House. We are suggesting a small donation of €1/€2 per student on the day.

Kind regards,

Sinéad Pigott

Principal
