Arriving to School:

A reminder to all parents of the policy for the arrival of pupils to school as guided by our school insurance and the Board of Management. The school opens to receive pupils at 8:40am. No responsibility is accepted for pupils arriving before that time. Supervision is provided from 8:40am. Classes commence each day at 8.50am. No pupils should arrive later than 9.10am. On wet mornings we would suggest that children remain in their car with an adult until the school opens to accept children at 8:40am.

Reminder to Label:

Please label all your child's clothing and belongings. Currently, we have an over-flowing Lost and Found box. If your child is missing anything, jumpers in particular, please stop in and have a look through the box. It is located in the front hall. There are other items such a coats, hats and athletic tops also.

Attendance:

Just a reminder that the school is legally obligated to report to the National Education Welfare Board (NEWB) any child who misses more than 20 days in the school year. Please remember to explain all absences in writing (booklet provided or homework journal). Further information can be found here.

Football:

We took part in the Cumann na mBunscol 6/7 Teacher blitz earlier in the month. We had mixed fortunes in our group games with a win over Castlegregory NS and a loss to Caherciveen NS. This was enough to secure our place in the Semi-Finals where we met a strong Caherleaheen side. Level at time, it made for an interesting second half however, it wasn't our day with Caherleaheen winning 3-02 to 1-04. Well done to all involved - all players made a huge effort. Our thanks to Seamus (Currow NS) for organising a fantastic blitz, as always, and to our referees on the day, Jonathan & Mike. We look forward to lots more football as the year progresses.

Library Visit

Junior and Senior Infants were invited to visit the library recently. We had a fantastic visit where author Olivia Hope read her beautiful book "Be Wild, Little One". The children had a lovely morning listening to the story and making butterfly crafts. Our thanks to Eibhlin for inviting us in. We're really lucky to have such wonderful staff in our local library.

Team Hope Shoebox Appeal:

Leaflets have been distributed to each household in relation to the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Our thanks to Carmel Foley for co-ordinating the collection for this wonderful and worthwhile cause. If any household would like more leaflets, please let us know as we have some spare. Carmel will collect the shoeboxes after Mid-Term.

TY Students:

We had two TY students giving us a helping hand last week, our past pupils Grace Naughton & Ciarán Birmingham. Our thanks to both students for their fantastic help throughout the week. We will be welcoming some more students over the course of the year and look forward to having them with us.

Kind regards,

Sinéad Pigott

Principal
